The Gold Reaper
A multi-timeframe breakout Expert Advisor for gold. It trades breakouts of important support and resistance levels, using several confirmation algorithms and multiple internal strategies to spread risk across trades. Every position carries a real stop loss and take profit, plus a trailing stop and trailing take profit — and it auto-adapts trade frequency and lot size to your account and your chosen maximum drawdown. No grid. No martingale.
⏳ Why there’s no Kernel Rating on this one yet
The Gold Reaper is live in our Starter Pack, but it’s a selective, lower-frequency breakout system — so on our own tracking it simply hasn’t closed enough trades yet to judge fairly. Rather than publish a number built on a handful of trades, we’re holding our verdict: we don’t rate what we can’t measure. Below is an honest description of how it’s built and what to expect. A Kernel Rating will follow once the live sample is large enough to mean something. In the meantime, the developer’s public marketplace record is shown further down as third-party context.
A real breakout strategy, with real stops
The design is deliberately conventional — the value is in the execution, not in an exotic gimmick. Here is what the strategy actually does.
Support / resistance breakouts
Trades breakouts of important levels on gold — a highly volatile instrument that suits this style — using multiple confirmation algorithms to filter entries.
Multiple internal strategies
Runs several strategies across multiple timeframes at once, spreading risk rather than betting everything on a single signal.
SL + TP on every position
Every trade has a hard stop loss and take profit, plus a trailing stop and trailing take profit to protect and extend each trade.
Auto-sized to your drawdown
Set your maximum allowed drawdown; the EA determines trade frequency and lot size automatically from your balance and that limit.
No grid, no martingale
The developer is explicit: no grid, no martingale, no lot-multiplication after losses. Losing trades are cut by the stop, not averaged into.
NFP filter & weekend control
A built-in NFP news filter can close trades and pending orders around the event, and a Friday-stop setting can keep it flat over the weekend.
What you control
Easy to run on defaults, but genuinely configurable for prop-firm rules and personal risk appetite.
- Trade frequency — conservative → extreme, or fully automatic
- Max allowed drawdown — drives automatic lot sizing
- Max daily drawdown — closes out and waits (useful for prop)
- Randomization — varies entries slightly across users / prop accounts
- NFP filter — with auto-GMT detection
- Friday stop hour — avoid holding over the weekend
- Use equity instead of balance for sizing
- On-chart info panel (with 4K scaling option)
Recommended setup: attach to XAUUSD on H1, set your trade frequency (auto by default) and preferred max allowed drawdown. Minimum account balance per the developer: $600. A low-spread / ECN account and a VPS are recommended for gold.
Our verdict — and the third-party record
Our own rating is pending until the live sample is meaningful. We won’t hide that. What we can show you now is the developer’s public marketplace record, clearly labelled as theirs, not ours.
Too few closed trades on our live tracking to score yet. We’ll publish a Kernel Rating — whatever it turns out to be — once the sample is large enough to stand behind.
The developer’s public score across 112 buyer reviews, with a track record on the marketplace going back to early 2024. Strong and well-established — but it is the vendor’s marketplace rating, not an independent Trading Kernel verdict, and reviews include quiet stretches and broker-dependent results as well as praise.
The risk picture, in one place
A well-built breakout EA is still a trading system on a volatile instrument. Here is the honest downside, kept in one section.
⚠️ What to expect
- Quiet spells and drawdown periods are normal. A selective breakout system trades relatively rarely and goes through losing stretches several times a year. Judging it over days or a couple of trades is misleading — both the developer and long-term users stress this.
- Broker conditions matter. Spread, slippage and execution on gold vary between brokers; some users report their fills not matching the developer’s signal. A low-spread / ECN account and a VPS are recommended.
- Default settings lean aggressive. Some experienced users consider the defaults on the higher-risk side, especially on small accounts. Size conservatively and use the max-drawdown control.
- Gold + small accounts need care. The developer lists a $600 minimum, but more capital and conservative frequency give the drawdown control more room to work.
- No guarantees. CFD trading carries substantial risk and past results — including the marketplace record above — do not guarantee future performance.
